Breaking the Overthinking Cycle
Overthinking can feel productive in the moment — but it rarely leads anywhere useful.
Overthinking often masquerades as problem-solving, but replaying the same worry without new information rarely produces a solution — it mostly produces more anxiety.
One helpful shift is asking whether a thought is something you can act on right now. If yes, take that action. If not, it may just need to be acknowledged and set aside rather than solved in the moment.
Writing thoughts down, setting a specific "worry time," or grounding techniques can also help interrupt the loop when it starts to spiral.
