Mindfulness, Without the Buzzwords
Stripped of the trend, mindfulness is a simple, practical skill worth understanding.
At its core, mindfulness just means paying attention to the present moment without immediately judging or reacting to it — noticing a thought or feeling rather than being swept up in it.
It doesn't require sitting cross-legged for an hour. Noticing the sensations of a cup of coffee, or your feet on the ground during a stressful moment, both count.
Like any skill, it takes repetition to feel natural, and it's normal for the mind to wander constantly at first — that's part of the practice, not a failure of it.
